While quarantining and social distancing is definitely still a thing, many experts are saying it is fine to take family walks for fresh air, providing you avoid contact with other walkers.
But nothing says you can’t have a little bit of fun. Using your neighborhood Facebook page or the Nextdoor app, why not set up a no-contact scavenger hunt to brighten everyone’s day?
Create a post asking neighbors to help you out by printing or coloring a specific item to place in their front windows. We have plenty of printables to get you started.
Some neighborhoods have already designed shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day, what about adding a spring flower like a daisy, or a decorated egg or bunny for Easter?
Then challenge parents and kids to take a walk around their neighborhood to see how many of that item they can find! It’s a perfect way to get some fresh air and exercise without worrying about coming into contact with other people. Even the littlest kids can play along spotting the items or counting how many they see.
With the options to connect directly with your neighbors via Facebook or Nextdoor, it’s easy to plan a fun event without having to meet in person.
A scavenger hunt is a great way to keep kids occupied and away from screens if you think they (or you) just need a break, and a fun way to bring your neighborhood together, even if it is virtually!
